Beautiful old RARE gold mining manuscript with 1875 by-laws and ranch diary, Nevada County, California, 1899-1900. Manuscript on lined paper. 27.4x22 cm (11x8¾”), period half sheep, paper label. Mixed manuscript including two versions of by-laws for a late 19th century mining corporation founded in Grass Valley, California by E.W. Roberts. Roberts purchased the mine, which was located between the Ophir Hill Mining Company, the Mohawk quartz claim, and the Phoenix Mining Company (Morning Union, Volume 18, Number 2949, 27 June 1876, p.4). The bulk of the manuscript relates the daily activities on a ranch, presumably in the same locale as the mine but dated about 15 years later, covering the period between about September 1899 to July 1900.
